北大路書房から出版された森まりも著『チビクロさんぽ』というタイトルの本に関してお手紙さしあげます。私の知るところによるとこの本が現在日本で売られているそうですね。この本は、日本の伝統的物語本のようですが、アフリカの人々についての複雑なメッセージを送るものであり、彼らを人間以下で「犬」のような知性や地位を持ったものであるかのように描いています。すべての人間の平等に向けて世界が動いているまさにこの時期に、人種・民族抑圧の構造を永続させる方向への後退をこの本は引き起こします。そして、間違ったヨーロッパ中心主義を支持し続けることにもなります。この本はいかなる形においても販売されたり支援されたりされるべきではないと思います。すべての人間性に敬意を表すためにこの本の撤去と廃棄を強く進言する次第です。

I am writing in regards to a book entitled Little Black Sampo by the author Marimo Mori, published by Kitaoji Shobo. This book, to my understanding, is being sold currently in Japan. This book, although seemingly a Japanese traditional storybook, is also responsible for sending mixed messages about the African population and portrays them as being less-human, possessing the mentality and status of a dog. Just when it seems the world is making progress, concerning equality amongst all human beings, set-backs such as this contribute to the constant, underlying structure which oppresses several ethnicities and races of people, that continues to support Eurocentric ideologies we know to be false. In my opinion, this book should not be sold, nor supported in any way or form. I strongly recommend its removal/abolishment to show support for all humanity.
