Minako ITO & Ken NAKAMURA:
Opinions on the Introduction of a School Counselor System-- From the Research to Junior High School Teachers and Counselors--.
Monbusho(Japanese Ministry of Education, Science, Sports and Culture) started a School Counseling Service System in 1995. Under this system, school counselors visit schools twice a week and are expected to solve various problems in mutual cooperation with school teachers. This survey was made at the start of the service inquiring 312 school teachers and 121 school counselors about their opinions concerning school counseling. The results showed that while the school counselors tended to be prepared to help school teachers working with troubled students, the teachers did not expect their help.

Realization of an Effective Spaced Learning Schedule Based on a Reactivation Theory of the Spacing Effect.
KR's Best Choice
Following a previous study, Mizuno(1998), where a reactivation hypothesis of the spacing effect was tested and proved in a repetition priming experiment, the present study aimed to confirm the hypothesis by demonstrating that a learning schedule based on the hypothesis would be most effective. In Experiment 1, reactivation levels were measured at various intervals using a repetition priming paradigm. The largest reactivation was obtained with a 5-inter-item-interval at the second presentation and with a 8-inter-item-interval at the third presentation. Therefore, if the hypothesis is right, a learning schedule in which the item was repeated with 5-inter-item-intervals at first and repeated further with 8-inter-item-intervals would be most effective. Experiment 2, in which 14 different learning schedules including that with 5-8 inter-item-intervals were compared in a word learning task, confirmed the hypothesis.
